The Road to the Room
Week 1
A guide to
study and meditation that coordinates with the sermons
April 3-May 15, 2016
During the week following each sermon, we will provide you with meditation
material and some questions for reflection.
Opening
prayer
Lord,
as we start on our journey to Pentecost, guide us in understanding of the words
that have read and heard. Please God through your Spirit guide our hearts down
this road we call faith. Bring us
through this journey strengthening us in righteousness, righteousness that can
only be found through your son, Jesus Christ our Salvation. Amen.
Meditation questions
Looking
back at the words that were previously spoken by Cleopas concerning his
testimony on the road to Emmaus, think about.
- How
might you apply the journey to Emmaus to your life
- Do you
miss seeing Christ walking beside you?
When and how?
- Think
about those around us… Is it possible that we may be in community with a
Christian and not know that they are of the faith?
- Do we
look at them as Cleopas looked Jesus, as people not knowing God?
- How
might you go about identifying someone in the faith?
- What
are expectations vs what is our reality in knowing Christ (Luke 24:21)
Forward thinking
Read again
Christ’s
call to read the Old Testament (Luke 24:27)
The
breaking of the bread opened there eyes (Luke 24:30-31)
We
walk by faith not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7)
Hearts
burning when Jesus talked to them, metaphor for your conscience (Luke 24:32)
Their
testimony to the church/our life. (Luke 24:35)
